Talking About Tacos And Entertaining Stereotypes

So yesterday I posted about delicious, delicious Mexican tacos and keeping on the theme I decided to talk about something else I love which has to do with both Mexico and tacos.

I’m sure you have all heard of eye candy right? Well if you haven’t it basically refers to the action of looking at a person you find attractive hence candy for your eye. You may be wondering what exactly this has to do with Mexico and tacos but I’m getting there, I promise.

Anyway, much to my delight, the Mexican equivalent of this saying is in fact taco de ojo meaning eye taco. Although tacos are certainly heavenly, the use of the word taco just fits the Mexican stereotype so perfectly that it cracks me up every time. Apart from the fact that I love it so much, it gets me thinking about further possible combinations that could be used in other countries such as eye sushi, eye spring roll, eye baguette, eye bratwurst and even eye fish and chips. Ok, so maybe I’m taking it a little far here but you have to admit, the stereotyping options are amazingly endless and almost too entertaining. After all, who doesn’t enjoy a bit of friendly stereotyping and a good laugh? So what’s your country’s stereotype?
